Woman kills father, says he killed her children, 2 husbands in ‘witchcraft coven

A 31-year-old woman, Dan Glory has been arrested by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command for allegedly killing her 75-year-old father, Mr. Bassey Udo. Glory apparently killed her father after she accused him of witchcraft, adding that he was responsible for the death of her children and two husbands.

She reportedly broke into her father’s room; hit him on the head with an object that caused his death. Residents were said to have reported the murder case to the village head of Mbiakpan Atan, Chief Linus Okon, in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area of the state where the incident happened.

The chief, however, called in the police who arrested the suspect.

Confirming the incident to newsmen, the state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Cordelia Nwawe, said on Tuesday that the crime was initially reported at ‘D’ Division Itam on May 10 and was subsequently transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Uyo on May 16 for further investigation.

According to the PPRO, while being killed, the deceased was heard pleading for mercy.
He said, “‘Don’t kill me’ repeatedly but before neighbours got to the scene, he had kicked the bucket.
“The suspect was arrested. She volunteered a statement confessing to the crime of murder.
“She stated further that she attacked the deceased because he was a wizard and also responsible for the death of her five children and two husbands,” the PPRO stated.

Nwawe quoted Glory as saying, “My father has been responsible for the death of all my children, including my two husbands. “It was my mother who revealed it to me in a dream when I washed my face and went to her tombstone and cried to her, that my father killed them in his witchcraft coven.”
